Spotlighting W.C. Jameson

All of us who find joy in the downsized version of treasure hunting should look with keen interest into the life of W. Carl Jameson. He has fulfilled all of what we seek, not in limited form, but with a dash of Indiana Jones he began his treasure hunting at the tender age of eleven and has lived the life that we all would love to live.

He is first of all adventurer, treasure hunter but more than that he has grown into one of the best writers of treasure stories that can be found. He also is known as a lecturer and has written over two hundred articles and thirty books. In 1995 Jameson became the president of the Western Writers of America.

At his young age of 56 he is tall and wiry but in the best of shape. Jameson stays busy hiking, backpacking, and climbing into the remote areas and also finds time to swim a half mile, lift weights, and run three or four miles a day! In addition he still manages to spar three or four times a week. Carl is trained in desert survival and often only takes only a pocketful of food into the desert. He has run into many dangers from the ever-present rattlesnakes to drug runners. He has been able to take care of all of them and he holds a black belt in Karate. Carl has learned the secret of research and perfected it to a higher degree than any of the rest of us. We could all take lessons from him.

The books are a compilation of treasure stories that he has researched and the book will tell you just where to look for treasure. If you want a real treasure hunt then he is the writer for you. His books are written for the different states and regions near all of us. He told me that people have taken his book and searched and found the treasures that he writes about. I understand that he has done well in his adventures, and perhaps someday when he slows down.... If ever, he will write stories of his personal treasure hunts and finds. I am waiting on that one!

W. Carl Jameson was standing near a counter when I approached him at the Texas Expo. He stood out against the crowd as a very tall man with the experience and wisdom of years and yet a gentle manner and disposition. I had read several of his books before I met him and they filled me with enthusiasm and just the hint that if I follow his lead that I too someday might find treasure. If you are a treasure hunter, even just a dash of treasure hunter you have the same desires that Jameson has, only he has fulfilled what we strive for. Take some time and search out his books that describe lost treasures near you. You will not be disappointed and you may be one of those lucky ones who locates the treasure!

Carl himself, is a treasure to the rest of us and more, he offers readers the hours of exciting reading and points the way for you to follow. Adventure was not lost in this day, as many have thought, it only took someone diligent enough to find it and tough enough to stand up to the demands of the mountains and deserts.

W. C. Jameson rides into the desert in search of a lost mine.
